Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Learn About Layering

Why Merino Wool?

Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

TOTAL EASY CARE

Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

Been to warm to wear yet, but they look and feel great. Love the zippers on both sides!

John,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We agree they do feel 'great' and having the zippers on both sides makes them very convenient to wear for outdoor activities. We look forward to hearing your thoughts once you have had the chance to wear them.

Keep Warm!

Great Baselayer

I love these! I wear them skiing and hunting. Super easy to shed a layer without having to take off boots.
I only gave it 4 stars because they are a bit heavier than I expected, and the waistband is bulkier than I expected.

Jeremy,

Thank you for the review! Great to hear you love our Chugach Men's Zip -Off 3/4 Bottoms.

Well worth the investment

I use mine for skiing and I cannot even begin to describe how well thought out these things are. I have to admit at first glance I thought the zip-off feature was a bit janky. But once I got them, I realized these things are the real deal. For starters, the build quality is top notch. From the stitching to the zippers even the tabs at the top...Seriously I don't know what this stuff is but it sticks to itself but doesn't stick to the wool, and if you've ever used Velcro around wool you know what a pain that is. No so here. As if that wasn't enough, they color coded each side to make getting things together just that much easier. The weight of the material is great; warm, without sweltering. I used these on a 5 degree day with 25mph winds and was very cozy. The length is great for not getting in the way of my boots, and the fact that they are a bit loose allows them to fit just over the tops of my boots for that little extra warmth. If I had one minor criticism, it would be the fly. Considering how these are being used, you probably could have saved yourselves the trouble, and gone without. But it certainly doesn't get in the way of anything.

Pros: Excellent materials. Perfect weight. Easy on, easy off. Built to last a long time.
Con(?): Unnecessary fly.
Conclusion: A great addition to anyone's cold weather gear.

Steve,

Thank you for the fabulous review and keep warm!
